Privacy Policy
Checkout Guard (“we”, “us”, “our”) is a Shopify app that helps merchants enforce cart and checkout rules.

Summary
- We collect the minimum store data needed to run the app (for example, your store domain and Shopify access tokens).
- We do not intentionally collect customers’ payment information and do not ask for credit card numbers.
- Checkout enforcement happens via Shopify Functions; when our app or data is unavailable, checkout should proceed (fail-open).
Information we collect
When you install and use Checkout Guard, we may collect and store:
- Store and account identifiers (such as your Shopify store domain and shop ID).
- App session data required for authentication and operation within Shopify Admin.
- Configuration data that you create in the app (for example, rule settings stored as Shopify metafields).
- Operational analytics (for example, counts of blocked checkouts and which rule caused a block). We aim to avoid storing personal customer data; where identifiers are needed for debugging or aggregation, we use non-PII or anonymized/hashed identifiers.
How we use information
- Provide and operate the app and its features.
- Authenticate you and maintain secure sessions.
- Store and apply your rule configuration (including in Shopify metafields).
- Improve reliability, performance, and user experience.
- Provide support and respond to requests.
Sharing
We do not sell personal information. We may share information with service providers that help us operate the app (for example, hosting and database providers) and as required to comply with law or protect rights and safety.
Data retention
We retain information for as long as needed to provide the service and for legitimate business purposes (such as security, troubleshooting, and compliance). If you uninstall the app, we will stop collecting new data from your store; some data may remain in your Shopify store (for example, metafields) unless removed by you.
Security
We use reasonable safeguards designed to protect your information. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
